conversations

i love talking to my kids. however, at this age, they can't seem to control the volume of their own voice. i have to constantly remind them to stop shouting...especially during lunch.

i had to tell alec to quiet down about 3 times. on the third time, this is how he responded.

me: alec! chill out...your voice is way too loud. i've had to remind you THREE TIMES now.
alec: i keep forgetting...my body isn't listening to my brain!

funny....that problem doesn't seem to get better for boys as they age. or...maybe their brain just starts listening to a certain body part.

i had a pleasant chat with charlotte about her new boyfriend, james, who promised to marry me when i first started work there.

charlotte: napua keeps teasing me about my shirt saying, "did your boyfriend get that for you?"
me: you have a boyfriend?
charlotte: yeah.
me: who?
charlotte: james.
me: you mean, james from our class, james?
charlotte: yeah!
me: oh, neat. does he call you his girlfriend too?
charlotte: no.
me: why not? is he too shy or something?
charlotte: i dunno.
me: does he know he's your boyfriend?
charlotte: no.
me: ooooh. okay. so, you LIKE him then.
charlotte: yeah. he's such a good dancer!

keep in mind that both of these kids are in kindergarten. if i thought like charlotte, i think i'd have had 50 boyfriends in my life time.

last....dear little erin who's dad fixes "puters." erin's 5th b-day was last friday.

me: erin, what'd you do for your birthday?
erin: i went to dave & busters. they have a big arcave that's bigger than this classroom!
me: an arcave, huh?
erin: yeah, an arcave. do you like arcaves ms. shannon?

hahaha....i feel like killing my kids on rainy days, but they're cute.
