sunny california
it's the beginning of february....and it was 73 degrees today. it was sunny and absolutely gorgeous. strange.... but, that just means that practice this weekend in LA is going to be hot. nice. very nice.
training started last weekend. my own personal hell. i wanted to cry. during the middle of the practice, i wanted to throw down my shinai (my stick), cry, scream, and just yell, "my body just can't take this anymore!!!!" we've been doing nothing but conditioning. mind over matter, right? fuck this shit....
our trainer has concocted a fabulous workout menu for the week. i wake up at 6am and begin training. i feel like rocky cuz i've got my hoody on, it's dark outside, and i'm working out as the sun comes up. this is nuts. i'm too old for this shit. i don't even get paid for this. let's say i DO place at the world championships. i don't get anything. i get a pat on the back.
i thought that at practice on tuesday and thursday at my own dojo, i'd be able to relax a little bit. no. not the case. we had to follow the trainers schedule he devised. which, was hell. on tuesday, i could barely move my legs. i couldn't lift my arms anymore. it was over an hour of straight conditioning. doesn't sound that bad to some of you, but it is. pure hell. i was actually whimpering out loud and my face was breaking into dry tears. i was just a milimeter close to saying, "i can't do this anymore." but, i didn't. i didn't have enough energy to.
i'm in hell right now. only 10 more months to go.
i'm going to be a MACHINE in 10 months though....better watch out.
