as i was driving to work today, i saw a car full of about 5 young girls. driving in an old beater, all of the girls were dancing or carseat grooving. today is a nice, pleasant, sunny day. they looked like they were having fun and just enjoying the moment. enjoying the sun, the wind. enjoying now.

to be young again. to be carefree. i remember those days. i felt nostalgic and envious.

i'm disturbed and i can't get it out of my mind that in 15 days and counting, over 250,000 baby harp seal pups will be mercilessly slaughtered. this is the largest slaughter of marine mammals that happens EVERY YEAR.

they get their heads bashed on. they get hooked. some get shot. most are between 12 days - 3 mos of age. 40% get skinned alive.

i can't get the image out of my head of this picture of a seal just screaming amongst its dead peers.

how can any human brutally slaughter such a defenseless, innocent animal? and 250,000 of them?

all i can think about is if someone came and clubbed my little cashew and skinned her alive.

this cannot happen. this cannot continue. we need to do something about this.

i am so sad.
