shit, a french kid, and love

tanguy is my little boy. i LOVE him. often times, he insists on having me sit next to him whenever. kids are so pure. so innocent. he will often stare at me with pure love in his eyes. i've asked him, "what?" when i catch him looking at me. (i ask nicely of course) here are a couple of our conversations. last month when i asked "what?" he answered:

Tanguy: Nothing. I'm just looking at you.
me: why? is there something on my face?
Tanguy: yeah. you've got buttons.

I can't figure that one out yet. I don't have acne, but I have lots of beauty marks. perhaps that's what he calls "buttons." who knows....he's french, you know?

today, i caught him staring at me while we sat together during snack time.

me: yes?
Tanguy: Nothing. I'm just looking at you because I like you!

aaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwww....it's so endearing from a 4 year old, but creepy from some older men, huh?

tanguy didn't make it to the toilet today. we had the kids play on a water slide today, so, luckily, he was in his swim trunks. but, he walked back to the classroom with his pants around his ankles and calling, "shanny! shanny! i need your help!" (he calls me shanny)

i went to look and was greeted with shit in his pants, up his butt, and around his ankles. great. and, it wasn't hard shit. to top it off, he left a little trail from the bathroom to the classroom. oooooooh, maaaaaaaan. i almost barfed. but, i cleaned him up and reassured him that it was okay. afterall, that's why it's called an accident. as i was cleaning his shit off of him and the ground, i realized, man...i must really love this kid to be doing this without much thought.

he'll be leaving for france on friday for vacation, then come back for a week or two before heading off to kindergarten. he will most likely not return to the center. i'll be SO sad when he leaves...

btw....i'm still looking for my sock. i'll be forever looking for it....

awww. this little boy sounds so sweet!

so he didn't make it to the toilet, huh? i had an incident where i soiled my pants in preschool. now for the record, i did NOT poop my pants, but once i fell off (or perhaps pushed off) the merry-go-around and landed in mud.

i remember feeling sooooo embarrassed. the teacher changed my pants without hesitation. when i saw her take a pair of clean pants out of the kiddie closet, i felt better because i understood that these sorts of accidents must happen a lot to preschoolers, enough for them to keep a closet full of clean clothes.
