only in LA
on april 8, i went to LA as usual. but, this time, i went with my dojo on a charter bus for the annual North South Kendo Championships. when we got into LA, we were greeted with heavy traffic as usual. no surprise. traffic was backed for about 20 miles. we happened to get front seat views to see WHY there was traffic.

what you can't see is the police surrounding a car with some dudes. the police are armed and pointing their guns at them. people got out of their cars to observe the spectacle. welcome to LA.
good thing we were on the bus so we could see everything! this lasted for about 10-15 minutes. when we were FINALLY able to drive by, the police were handcuffing four dudes and had them up against a wall.

When I went down to SD last summer, I was at LA Union Station buying an Amtrak ticket and this guy runs up to the guy waiting in line in front of me and was all like "OMG! When did they let you out? How long were you in for?" And the guy in line was like "Just got out yesterday. Five years man! FIVE YEARS! Good to be out." Wheeee, LA never fails me.
grace, when you get back to the states, you and i should do the same dialogue in public! hahaha...
