random thoughts
well, i'm really a rookie when it comes to this blog stuff because i had typed up a really long blog and forgot to save it and just lost it. geez....what a waste.
last night, we had yet another earthquake. it was around midnight once again. this would mean once every night since sunday. it's not pleasant.
on monday, we started lessons for the new term. the first activity was a jeopardy type review game that covered the materials learned during the first term. one of the questions worth 20 points in the Countries, Nationalities, and Languages category was, "what are people in america called?"
yuki, who sits in seat 21, raised her hand first with an energetic, "hai!" so, i called on her. she answered, "black!" meaning, people from america are called black. wonderful. just when i think that my students can't get any stupider. i swear to god, monkeys are smarter than them.
although, i did enjoy her enthusiasm. funny moment.
sometimes, i just don't understand why this society conditions these kids to conform. beat down the nail that sticks out. BEAT IT DOWN!!!!
i hate it some classes when i ask the students questions that i KNOW they understand and won't answer or respond to. "does everyone understand?" no answer. "nod your head if you understand," as i nod my head in demonstration. still no response. my life in japan is this.
here are a list of things that i like to make fun of about japanese people. list is subject to change.
1. for some reason, my supervisor feels compelled to run to the printer from her desk, which is less than 8 ft. away. why?!
2. my supervisor runs everywhere. RELAX, HUH?
3. when we team teach together, my supervisor waits anxiously by my side for me to divide the stack of papers and give her half to pass out. i can FEEL this women waiting for me. as soon as she gets them, she takes off like her pants on our fire. SLOW THE FUCK DOWN. sheesh.
4. make executive decisions for your own damn class. i'm just the freaking assitant for chrissakes.
5. stop asking me if i'm going to club practice. (they ask me this to keep track of my extra hours.) quit being so stingy and it ain't none of your business what the hell i do with my time.
well, that's enough griping for one day. i know i know....there are things i like about teaching here too though. i'll mention them next time.
on a side note. what's up with russia? that's pretty fucked up that they'd take kids hostage and blow them to pieces. devils. awful stuff. what in the hell is the world coming to? there's no hope. until next time.
